The Original Wedding Soiree 2013

A weeks ago (on St. Patrick's Day to be exact) I had the opportunity to spend my day at The Original Wedding Soiree. A few weeks earlier, I won a Twitter contest that was held by Bourjois Paris. They were giving away a pair of tickets to the show if your retweeted their tweet. I decided to retweet it thinking I was not going to win because I NEVER win anything! People around me usually win but I never do. So basically I won and I was so excited to go. Although I am not engaged, I love going to wedding shows. It was funny because when I was at the show all the vendors thought I was engaged but I just won a contest. I am not looking at these vendors for fun, it was actually informative and it gave me ideas for my future wedding when I do decide to get married.

Enjoy the photos!

Light Blue Shade Shampoo Review

Sometime late February of this year I purchased a new purple shampoo for my ombre hair. I have written a brief blog post about it at the time I purchased the product. This shampoo is designed for people with white, grey and blonde hair. I am reviewing this product as I had blonde hair.

I finished about a third of the bottle which gives me a good idea of how well the product worked for me.

First off, I found this product in Walmart when I was searching for a new bottle of purple shampoo. I previously tried the purple shampoo from John Freida but I wanted to try something new. I read a few reviews of this product before I tried out the product on my hair. I am glad I did because the shampoo is a lot more pigmented than I original thought it would be (lavender purple).

Above is picture of what the product looks like straight out of the bottle. You can see that the product is a dark purple; which totally freaked me out at first. However, I did read reviews of this product and girls have been mixing this shampoo with small amounts of their regular shampoo for colour treated hair. So that is exactly what I did.

I put a bit too much of the regular shampoo with the Light Blue Shade Shampoo but you do get an idea of what I did to achieve a lighter shade of purple shampoo.

Once both products are all mixed together, you can see that the shampoo is now an appropriate shade of purple for my ombre hair. I would do all the mixing in the palm of my hand when I am in the shower.

As for the benefits that the products claim that it does to your hair, it definitely did it for me. However my ends were a bit dried out from the winter weather, which is normal. There is only so much a shampoo can do to moisturize your hair. It's all about the deep conditioning masks for the hair to get moisture back into your hair.

I would repurchase this product again if I ever do decide to dye parts of my hair blonde again. It is a less expensive alternative to the John Freida purple shampoo as this bottle only costs me around $7 for a 450 mL bottle.

If you don't have a Walmart near you, you can also purchase Light Blue Shade online.

Note 1: Shampoo swatch pictures were taken with my iPhone because my regular digital camera made the shampoo photo blue instead of purple.

Note 2: I no longer I have ombre hair because I cut my hair earlier this week! If you follow me on Instagram, you would see what it currently looks like!

My New Obsession

As you all can tell, I have been gone just for a short while but it is because of this new book I have got recently. I got it as a gift from the boyfriend for Valentine's Day and I could not wait to start reading it! So I did! It is part of a trilogy in the Gabriel's Inferno series. I am not going to lie, the first book, Gabriel's Inferno was difficult for me to get through. It finally got interesting halfway through the book. However, Gabriel's Rapture, I COULD NOT PUT DOWN! I also cried in several chapters of the book which was a shocker to me. I don't usually cry a lot in books but this one. OMG I just couldn't even deal! It was so heart-wrenching and beautiful at the same time. The passion Professor Emerson has for Julianne is incredible. If I can experience that kind of the love that they have, my life would be complete. Some of you might not know this but this book was a fan fiction of Twilight. Yeah I know it can be annoying that Twilight is everywhere. I haven't even read the series myself so I can't even say if it's the same or not. BUT the book was originally an online fan fiction under the name University of Edward Masen. I finally got a PDF of the original story and I plan to read it sometime soon. It does have the continuation onto Book 3 of the series which is currently being written. It is unnamed right now and the release date will be named soon! I am so in love with Gabriel's and Julianne's story, I can't even deal! If you are obsessed with the story as much as I am, let me know!

I do have a Goodreads account so check mine out here!

I Want Spring Now!

I don't know about you all but I cannot wait for Winter to be over! We recently had a small snowstorm here where I live and it made me officially want Spring to be here. There was not a lot of snow but it was enough for me to OVER it. It was regular snow mixed with rain which made it very heavy to shovel. I couldn't even go home the night of the snowstorm due to the heavy snowfall and slipper roads, so I had to stay over at Shawn's place. The next day there was slushy snow everywhere! Puddles, slush, falling snow, etc. you name it, we had it! It made me wish I had rain boots but I don't any boots that are waterproof at all unfortunately.

I am on the hunt for a nice pair of black boots that I can wear to work. I need something that I can wear to work and be appropriate to wear with a skirt. And if it can be waterproof, even better! I know Blondo makes really nice boots but they are way too expensive for me. I will be writing another blog post as this is a separate issue on its own.

I even painted my nails a nice pastel blue to make me think happy Spring thoughts! Don't mind my cuticles, I just painted them and didn't get a chance to clean off the edges!

Oscars 2013 Best Dressed and Worst Dressed

I am a huge awards show person! Mostly for the fashion but I do enjoy watching the awards show itself. This year I have only watched two of the nine films that were nominated for Best Picture. I watched Les Miserables and Silver Linings Playbook. During Les Miserables, I was crying for a good majority of the movie. That scene where Anne Hathaway was singing "I Dreamed a Dream", I couldn't even look at the movie screen or I would ball my eyes out uncontrollably. I was staring at the theatre wall and I was still tearing up. Silver Lining Playbook was Oscar worthy but they ending was not. It was had a very predictable ending. I was expecting Bradley Cooper to take off his shift sometime during the film but it never happened!

So now onto the fashion!!

Best Dressed

Stacey Keibler dress is amazing!
I love the metallic detailing!
Amanda Seyfried. I love her. That is all!
Jennifer Lawrence was amazing
the entire show! Her dress is a little
too stiff for my taste but I still love it!
Reese Witherspoon! I love everything
 about her outfit, especially her
hair! It makes me wish I had blonde hair!

Worst Dressed

I love Halle Berry
but this dress made her look like a statue.
Anne Hathaway is mainly in the
worst dressed category because of
the high neckline and the fact
that you can see through her
dress. I thought the darting was
just making her nipples pointy
but it was in fact her nipples
showing through. The back of the
 dress was amazing  though!
Helen Hunt wore a dress
designed by H&M.
I like how she is trying to be thrifty
but the material is all wrong!

Trying Something New

I went to my local Walmart today to find a new bottle of purple shampoo for my ombre hair. I finished my bottle of the John Freida Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Tone Correcting Shampoo and it costs me around $10 for the bottle. I wanted to try something new and inexpensive as compared to the previous shampoo that I have used. I came across a brand called Light Blue Shade. The unique shape of the bottle intrigued me at first and then it was the price. It was around $7 a bottle and came with almost twice the amount of product as compared to the John Freida shampoo. I have not used the product yet but I have looked up reviews for this product. Apparently the colour of this shampoo is a lot darker than normal purple shampoos in the market. People suggest mixing it with another regular shampoo and using it only once a week. I only use a tone correcting shampoo once a week so that is not a problem for me. I will give a more in-depth review once I have used this Light Blue Shade Shampoo.
