101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tip 1

How is everyone's week going so far? I hope it's all well! I am happy to share I have got the job that I interviews for last week. I am not going to share where I work for safety reasons. But I am excited to work for a growing business. So if I don't post as often as I do, that is why. I work late hours so I don't get home until around 9:30 pm. Therefore most of my tweets and internet action will happen late night or early morning. I hope you all understand. Do you any of you have plans tomorrow for Halloween? I wish I could hand out candy with Shawn but I will be getting home so late. I want to wear my Wenda costume again! Below you will find pictures of Shawn and I on Saturday night! We went to Ivy Social Club. I highly recommend to those who are 25+. It was my first time there and I felt so young! I loved it! Usually I feel so old but I think I found the perfect club where I feel young again!

1) Use a cream or milk cleanser to wash your face. Creams are less drying than gels.

I know this works really well for those who have normal to very dry skin. But I am not sure if it works on oily skin. I would assume it would but you would need to make sure it is oil-free. I am using the Cetaphil cleanser which is light and gentle on my skin.

I would like to thank Beauty High for these amazing tips. I do not take any credit for these amazing tips but I will continue to post every Tuesday and Thursday. I will try to blog in between those days as well depending on my schedule. Check out the original post on Beauty High!

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 6 -> 2

I cannot believe I forgot to post yesterday. I apologize to those who were waiting. I got a last minute call yesterday for an interview this afternoon so I was prepping all last night. Part two of the interview is tomorrow morning so tonight I will be prepping for that. I hope you all understand. This weekend is Halloween weekend! I hope some of you got some fun weekend plans coming up! Me and Shawn are going clubbing for the first time in a long time. I don't even remember the last time me and Shawn went clubbing together. That is how long ago it was. This is when you know you are getting old. When you can't remember the last time you partied. Me and Shawn also need to carve a pumpkin. We plan to make the pumpkin on the far right (picture below).

6) The best way to get rid of ingrown hair is to exfoliate, "which rids the skin of dead cells and allows the hair to break through the surface" - Marlena Ramoy, Bliss Spa Esthetician

This is especially important if you wax any part of your body. If you don't want any ingrown hair, make sure you exfoliate. You can exfoliate with a dry brush before you shower and a loofah/body glove in the shower. I am currently using a dry body brush from The Body Shop.

5) Carrots are good for the hair. A healthy diet leads to a beautiful you.

I strongly believe in having a healthy diet to help improve your skin, hair and well-being. If you eat bad, you will look bad. If you eat good, you will look good. If you have trouble eating vegetables, try juicing them with fruits. I know RissRose2 on YouTube has some really great juicing ideas/videos.

4) "The best time to apply cream is after the shower, as the skin has been de-oiled." - Dr. Stephen P. Bracci

It is also a great time since your pores are open from the steam in your shower. The best creams are the body butters. I know The Body Shop has tons! I personally don't like body butters since I find that it leaves a heavy scent in my skin which I don't like. I use a special lotion made by Cetaphil for my eczema skin.

3) Replace mascara and liquid eyeliner after three to four months.

This is because the bacteria that is on your lashes and eyelids goes back into the mascara and eyeliner applicator. I learned this from a women at a Clinique counter. The mascara gets thicker in the container because both air and bacteria are getting into your mascara. Sounds really gross but it's true.

2) To keep hair colour vibrant longer, use shampoos and conditioners formulated for coloured hair.

This is pretty obvious but there still some girls out there that don't do this. It is important to do this since you did spend a lot of money at the salon getting all that hair coloured. Don't want to waste it away!

Stayed tuned next Tuesday to get the final tip!

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 11 -> 7

I finally got a hard copy of Reflected In You by Sylvia Day and I cannot be anymore excited! I am already on Chapter 5! Ever since I read Bared To You, I could not wait until the next book!! It's basically Fifty Shades of Grey but way hotter and intense in both the plot and love scenes. If you have read the book, please don't spoil it for me! The last book (Entwined With You) to the Crossfire comes out in early 2013. I can't wait! Even though I haven't finished reading this one, I know it will be a cliffhanger ending!

11) Use a pumice stone on your feet after the shower to get rid of calluses on your feet.

This is especially important in the summer months when us girls are rocking the sandals and flip flops. It's important to have good foot hygiene because your foot is out on display for people to see. This tip is also important for athletes because with all the running you do, you are bound to have some form of calluses on your feet and maybe even your hands.

10) Hydrate your under-eye area with an eye cream to prevent puffiness and bags.

I always use an eye cream. By now, you guys know what eye cream I am using. I use the Biotherm brand of eye creams in case you are wondering. I even got Shawn into doing it. It's so important because we want to look as young as possible. Even though we are both 25, we feel old so putting on the eye cream gives us a piece of mind.

9) If you have light hair, "put a lotion over the eyebrows and hair line" when self-tanning the face. Also remember to "apply it in circular motions and blend it down to the neck: - Sinead Norenius, founder of Beautisol

I don't self-tan but this tip is great for those who do! I am assuming this helps prevent your blonde hair from being tanned as well. That would be a weird look, to have a tanned face with your hairline and brows being tan as well. It would be like dipping your face in milk chocolate....

8) If  you often find yourself too tired to wash your face at night, keep makeup removing wipes in your night stand to prevent a runny mess or morning break out.

This is the one best tips of life! This is amazing especially on nights where you get home really late at night and just have no energy to do your full face routine! Use wipes that have a textured surface so it can grab more makeup off your face and eyes. I currently use the Pond's Wet Cleansing Towelettes.

TIP: Store them upside down in your night stand. That way the cleansing liquid will distribute through all the sheets and not settle only on the bottom ones.

7) Pop 1-2 Advil before going waxing to prevent pain.

The ibuprofen in Advil will numb your nerve endings a bit so the hair removal will be less painful. I personally don't go waxing. I shave any unwanted hair and get my brows threaded.

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 16->12

This past Tuesday was my parent's 30th wedding anniversary. We went for teppanyaki and it was so delicious! My dad got her a pearl bracelet that I helped picked out and a bouquet of pink roses. When couples reach 30 years of marriage, the theme is pearls and the colour green. So that is why I told my dad to buy her a pearl bracelet. She has tons of pearl necklaces and earrings but not bracelets (well not that I've seen). Shawn surprised my parents with an anniversary card and two double shot glasses that says "Cheers to 30 years". You definitely need a double shot after being married for 30 years. It's a big accomplishment! Especially after hearing all these divorces and break-ups happening to their friends in real life over the past few years.

16) Use a facial exfoliater bi-weekly to get dead skin. Makeup will look better on a clean, smooth canvas.

If my facial toner counts as an exfoliator then yes I do this tip! My toner gently removes off any excess make-up that my cleanser did not remove while returning my skin back to it's natural pH level. It also removes off any dead skin I have to reveal new skin. The current toner I am using is the Clinique Facial Lotion in #1 (for very dry to dry skin.

15) After using a hair conditioning mask, follow with "a cold rinse to close the hair cuticles" - Ursala Stephensen, Motions celebrity stylist.

When you wash your hair with hot water, it open up the hair cuticles to remove any of the products and oils that are in the hair shaft. Once you put a conditioning mask on it, you are basically stuffing the hair cuticle with the healthy vitamins. To seal it into your hair, rinse with cold water. Cold water makes the hair cuticle close since the molecules in it are contracting into each other. It's a molecular thing I learned back in chemistry class. I knew it was good for something!

14) To get your braid to last all day, try styling hair that's "dirty with product". This will make the style stick longer.

I say you can braid you hair while it is still damp. Run some mousse into it. That way your braid will hold together and when you undo your braid [once your hair is completely dry or your tired of your braid], you will have nice wavy hair after without any heat damage.

13) Use a clarifying shampoo once a week to rid of any product build-up that may have occurred during the week.

I would recommend this for people who style their hair on a daily basis. I don't style my hair enough to actually need this. Also since now that I have colour-treated hair, it is recommend that I wash my hair even less now. I do use a purple shampoo once a week to help with the brassiness in my hair.

12) If you have chipped nail polish, add a crackle or glitter on top to disguise the look of chipping.

This is great for people who don't have the time to give themselves a complete manicure. Usually if my nail polish chips, I just give myself a new manicure. But for those busy girls on the go, I would recommend doing this OR try getting Shellac nail polish. Those manicures apparently last a very long time. I personally like to change my nail colour often so Shellac would be pointless for me.

101 Beauty Tips Ever Girl Should Know: Tips 21->17

So I am still alive and well after my three days of parties in a row. I slept in Sunday night since I was so sleep deprived. I have to tell you, my parents had the best stories when they came back from New York City (NYC). They went there for my mom's friends wedding. They went all over NYC; Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn! My mom is hilarious. She told me during the reception all the DJ played was "black people music". Uh Mom....you were in Queens, what do you expect? She wanted to dance but she doesn't know how to dance to that type of music. I asked her how the people danced to "black people music", she didn't say anything. So then I asked "Did it look like sex on the dance floor?". She had no comment. Usually when she has no comment, she is agreeing with me. Awww my poor mom's eyes!

One more thing that NYC has that I wish Toronto has is more ethnic food trucks! They had a Banh Cuon food truck! To all my fellow Vietnamese/Oriental people, you know what I am talking about. For those who don't know what Banh Cuon is, here is the Wikipedia definition of it.

My mouth is watering.....
21) To create a lived-in look for your hair, use thickening or sea-salt mist before you blow-dry. Follow by running a volumizing or texture cream through hair.

I am personally not a fan of the lived-in look. I like to look as polished as I can when going out in public. But if you are a fan of the lived-in look, these tips are great! Side note: I was Google image searching "lived in hair" and it all looks like "after sex" hair or "I just got out of bed and I don't care" hair.....is that the "live-in look"?

20) When using an eyeshadow primer, only place the primer where you'll be adding colour.

I think this is pretty obvious but there are people who don't know this! So there you go!

19) "Cream rouge (blush) should be the first thing that touches your cheeks when you want to project an image of healthy and pinched cheeks" - Pablo Manzoni, former creative director for Elizabeth Arden

I have naturally high cheekbones so it is really easy for me to locate where my cheekbones are. If you have trouble finding it, do the puckered lips/fish face and you will see the bone that projects out. That is your cheekbone. Apply your blush there! It will also give you an instant face lift without the surgery!

18) If you choose to use false eyelashes, remember to use the dark glue as it will blend in with lashes.

Most lash glues come in the clear formula. You don't have to use a dark glue but if you wear false lashes often then I do recommend using a dark glue to save you the time and hassle of covering up the clear glue areas. The dark glue I would recommend is the Duo Lash Glue in Dark-Tone. It can be purchased at MAC counters/stores and at your local drugstores.

17) When buying "organic" beauty products, make sure to check if they are FDA certified organic. This will prevent you from getting scammed.

Since the whole organic/green movement, a lot of companies are jumping on the bandwagon without even being certified organic. So be careful of this! I am not a huge organic person but I do know of people who are very careful about what they eat and such so please read the label before you buy anything. The last thing I want you is to be scammed. I am here to tell you the truth!!

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 26->22

It's going to be a busy weekend for me! I got three parties in a row to go to starting today! Tonight I am going to an event that Bourjois Paris is holding in Downtown Toronto. If you are in the area you should stop by! To RSVP, e-mail info@bourjois.ca to get on the guest list. It would be awesome to meet some of you viewers/readers there! Their ad is down below. Tomorrow night I am going to a grad party for one of my friends and then on Saturday I have a birthday party to go to for a family friend. Sunday will be my rest day! What are your plans for this weekend?

26) Try out the funky hair colour trend without dying your hair. Instead, dust bright blush in your ponytail for the same effect. - Refinery29

I never tried this before but I think this is very similar to using loose pigments in your hair. Do help the coloured powder to stay on your hair, spray some hairspray on your hair after applying the powder.

25) "Foot perspiration is typical in the summer and can lead to fungal infection and unwanted odor. Wash feet daily, and let them dry thoroughly before putting shoes on" - Dr. Leslie Campbell, DPM

I usually wash my feet in the summer when I have black flip flops on. They leave a black stain on the bottom of my feet so I have to clean them. I do this at the end of the day once I get home.

24) Splurge on items that are important to you. "If mascara is really your thing and fall in love with a mascara that's $40, buy the mascara." - Raychel Wade, founder of Cheek to Chic and La Prairie's colour ambassador

I splurge on skincare. I do this because to have makeup look flawless, it's best to work on a smooth canvas which is your face. My most expensive skincare item is my face serum. It's expensive but it's so worth it since my face feels like a baby bottom.

23) "Don't be too serious; It's only makeup!" - Francois NARS insists you play around with new colours

I really do believe in this tip. Some people take makeup so seriously. It's something you put on in the morning and take off at night. It's like playing dress up, so go nuts!

22) To reduce unwanted shine, use a moisturizer that mattifies, that way you get the moisture your skin needs without looking greasy.

I use a mattifying moisturizer during the summer since I tend to produce oil during the summer time. You guys probably know what moisturizer I am talking about by this post. Brownie points if you can figure out which moisturizer I am talking about!

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 31->27

I hope all my fellow Canadians had a good Thanksgiving long weekend! I had an eventful one. Both good and bad. I don't want to get into it (I will in later posts and videos) but I will tell you about the good. I celebrated my 25th birthday with friends and it was so good reconnecting with my friends who I have not seen in awhile. Once you reach my age, it gets hard to visit your friends because they are literally all over the place. And since I don't drive yet, it makes it even more difficult to see them. Basically what I want tell you is, cherish what you have now with your friends because later on, things do get more difficult.

My family's Thanksgiving feast!
31) To contour cheeks, use a matter powder (a few shades darker than your skin tone) with an angled brush. Blend on temples and under cheek bone.

I am obsessed with contouring my cheeks. Since my face is kind of wide, I like to sculpt my cheeks to make my face more slim. I am currently using the Coastal Scents 6 Colour Blush and Contour Palette to contour my face. You can also buy this palette on eBay. It's way cheaper.

30) When using a cream product, lock it in by using translucent powder over it.

For eye shadow creams, you will put eye shadow over it anyways so that is not a big issue. But with blush creams or foundations, always set it! You can use the same coloured powder or a translucent one. Not a big deal on which of the two colours you use.

29) Get quick volume by using a root lifter, then a hairspray to set hair. This will prevent it from falling flat during the day.

I never used a root lifter before since I just tease my hair if I need volume. The root lifter is probably less damaging than teasing the hair so I will have to give this tip a try.

28) For makeup that lasts all day and night, use a makeup-sealing product.

Popular makeup-sealing products are Model in a Bottle, Skindinavia sprays and the Urban Decay ones. Just an FYI, Skindinavia makes Urban Decays sprays. It's just a different label and name. All the contents are the same. It's a marketing strategy. Trust me, I took marketing in university. Basically all these products are like hairspray for your face. It keeps everything in place throughout the day and some of them even have special ingredients in it to help your skin type.

27) To help you find the right shade of foundation, choose a product you think is closest to your colour and try it on your jawline in natural light. You will be able to easily compare it to your neck's colour to see if you need to go for a different undertone, lighter or darker.

This is a great tip for those who do wear foundation. I personally myself don't wear foundation since I like to spend my money on good skincare so I don't have to wear foundation. I do wear concealer and a light face powder though.

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 36->32 and It's My 25th Birthday!!!!

IT'S MY 25TH BIRTHDAY!!!!!!! Happy Birthday to me!!! I can't believe I am 25 now. It seems like just yesterday I was 24, but now I am 25. That is crazy!!! Tonight I am celebrating with Shawn with dinner, watch Glee and the Season 6 Premiere Jersey Shore. Then on Saturday I am celebrating with friends like you have heard in my latest blog post. Oh I am have also had a new change to my hair!! Here is the final picture of my NEW HAIR!!!

NEW HAIR!!! By Monica Le
36) To mask split ends, use an iron to straighten ends and then apply a hair repair cream.

I currently have a few split ends but I am using a Dry Ends Serum by Avon to kind of mask them. I will definitely try this trick since I never do usually straighten my hair with a flat iron.

35) There are always cheap, natural and effective homemade beauty recipes.

There are tons of them on YouTube! My favourite gurus that do these DIY beauty recipes are Bubzbeauty and AndreasChoice.

34) To fix brassy hair color, use a color-depositing shampoo with purple tones. For unwanted redness, use a color-depositer with a green tone.

I am definitely using this trick since now my hair is a shades of blonde! I am plan to buy the one by John Freieda!!!

33) To cover up roots in a hurry, use a dry shampoo spray for your hair color. If you don’t keep this product around, use eyeshadow (in a shade closest to your hair color) for a quick fix.

I never knew there was so such thing as dry shampoo for your hair colour! I need to find this! I am pretty sure it will be east for me to find a black one since it's a simple colour to produce. I don't have coloured hair from my roots so I won't have this problem. But if I do decide to, this is a great tip!

32) Get a “dewy glow” using a highlighter or illuminator above your cheekbones and on the browbone.

I do this all the time! I use a white highlighter above me cheekbone. But as for my browbone, I also highlight with a skin tone shade that is matte. I don't know why but I am not a fan of those shimmery highlights by my brows. It looks to flashy and not natural.

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 41->37

Ahhhhhh!! It's my birthday week!!! I am turning 25 on Thursday and I am super excited! Well mostly to celebrate it, not turning 25. That is a quarter of a century people! That is old! Anyways, I plan to go to dinner with Shawn on my birthday then watching Glee and the premiere of Jersey Shore's last season. Then On Saturday I am celebrating with my friends for dinner. I am also going to the CN Tower and Steamwhistle Brewery that morning. I also went to the salon today to get my hair did! Here is a sneak peek!! I won't be showing you guys the full hair until Thursday!!!

41) If you're not a fan of liquid eye liner, get the look of liquid eye liner by using a gel instead.

I do prefer using a liquid eyeliner because I find it easier to use. Gel liner is too time consuming and you require using a separate brush for it. I do own gel/cream liners but I only use them whenever I am in the mood which is hardly ever.

40) Exfoliate before applying self tanner to get rid of dead skin. Tanning products tend to cling to dryer areas.

I don't self tan so this tip is more useful for those who do self tan. But I am pretty sure those who do self tan already know this.

39) If you straighten your hair with a flat iron, cause less heat damage by letting it hair air-dry. The less heat, the better!

I never straighten my hair since my hair is already straight. And when I do wash my hair, I always let it air-dry unless I am showering late at night or on early cold winter mornings. I do know some girls that blow dry their hair then straighten it. By that time, their hair looks fried like hay. Not a cute look!

38) To minimize pores, use a pore-minimizing facial wash followed by a toner. Make sure the toner is alcohol-free so it won't dry out your skin.

I don't have many large pores on my face since I got dry skin. However I do have some large pores on my nose. My boyfriend has large pores on his face so I will definitely tell him this tip!

37) The healthier you are, the healthier you hair! Take a daily multi-vitamin with Biotin to help hair grow.

I don't have an issue with my hair. I just got my hair done today at the salon and the girl told me I had really healthy silky hair. Even after I coloured my hair, it was still silky soft. I was worried it was going to feel fried but it turned out really nice and soft! So I am super happy about that. I eat lots of fish (I LOVE SUSHI) and lots of greens. I also don't use a lot of heat on my hair and use leave-in conditioners on my hair.

Me at Pioneer Square in Downtown Portland. You can see how straight and healthy my hair looks!

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 46->42

YAY I am back from my Fifty Shades vacation! I feel like I have been gone for such a long time but it really hasn't been that long which is weird. I loved Seattle and Portland so much! I also got to meet E L James!! She was so nice! I will make a haul and experience video soon! Check out my YouTube channel for some of my vlogs from my vacation! I got three days posted so far. Here is a sneak peak of one of my many Seattle pictures!

View from Kerry Park

46) Use a shimmer eye shadow to compliment a bold matte lip.

I always do this! Usually it happens if I have a dark lip going on such as a red or dark purple. I find the shimmery eye shadow adds life into your eyes.

45) To revive curls mid-day, "Take a very small amount of pomade and put it in the palms of your hands. Rub them together. Next gently smooth the pomade over your curls and scrunch just a little bit" - Eugene Davis, celebrity hair stylist

This sounds like an amazing tip to use! I have yet to find the perfect pomade for my hair. Since my hair is so long, my curls can get straight pretty fast. That is why I like to use a curl activating spray before I curl my hair and them spray tons of hairspray afterwards.

44) "Your should always go to a hair-removal specialist, where waxing, laser etc. is their main business - don't go to a nail salon for a wax" - Cindy Barshop, Completely Bare and Bravo's RHONYC

When I get my brows threaded I go to a small salon right by my house. Literally all the do is men's haircuts, waxing and threading. Mostly threading. I use to go to Donato Salon and Spa to get my brows waxed but it was getting way to expensive (around $23). Now I just pay $4 ($5 with tip) to get my brows threaded. BEST DEAL EVER!!!

43) "A little silvery-blue eyeliner on the lower lid is very flirty" - Dimitri James, makeup artist, author and creator of Skinn Cosmetics

I have never tried this before but I do have an eyeliner where I can try this out. I have a feeling it will bring out the white on your eyeballs and illuminate them at the same time.

42) "Use your concealer as a base on your eyelids" - Melissa Silver, Maybelline makeup artist

I see that a lot of makeup artists use this especially if they are a drugstore brand. Since they don't carry eye primers in their line, they will use a concealer. I never tried this tip before because I do got two eye primers. But if I do ever run out, I know what to use then!

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 51->47

AHHHH!! I can't believe tomorrow is my trip to Seattle!! It seems like yesterday I was just planning this trip! My flight leaves really early tomorrow morning so I need to get up at 3am (my flight leaves at 6:05am). Not looking forward to that but that is why I woke up early today in hopes I will get tired by tonight. I have so much today! I have to paint my nails, wash my hair, pack (this will take a few hours), upload a video, write a blog post (doing it now!) AND watch The X Factor and Glee!!! I hope by the end of this day, I will be passed out in my bed until 3am.

If you want to know what I will be doing in Seattle/Portland, read my blog post about my Fifty Shades of Grey Inspired Vacation.

Now time for some beauty tips!!

51) "I always think that less is more, there's a point where you look in the mirror and say 'Is this too much?' and if you even have that inclination then it usually is." Kim Catrall, Sex and the City

I usually have this problem when I apply my lip colour. I think my makeup looks good with the lip colour but as soon as I put it on, I wipe it off. Sometimes I think I should put on my lip colour first then do the rest of my makeup. Do any of you girls do this?

50) When applying bronzer, "first start by applying it around the perimeter of your face and follow with a light dusting on your forehead, nose and chin" - Mally Roncal, Mally Beauty

I think this tip is if you want a sunkissed bronzed look. I use bronzer to contour my face. However this tip can be used on those days in the summer where you have a really good tan going on. That hardly ever happens to me but one day, I will be tan enough to do this!

49) To get curls when you have straight hair, use the following, "a volumizer or volume thickening agent, a curl enhancing product, light holding finishing spray" Vicktor Stevenson, Hair Stylist

I use two of the products listed! The curl enhancing product I use is Tresemme Thermal Creations Curl Activator Spray (no longer available in Canada). The light holding finishing spray I use is Paul Mitchell ExpressStyle Hot Off The Press. This also acts as a heat protectant.

48) "Foundation should never be heavy" - Aura Schwartz, makeup artist

I totally agree with this. To prevent this from happening, apply your foundation with a damp sponge or a brush. Start off with a small amount. If you need more coverage, apply another thin layer.

47) "The right red [lipstick] will light up your hair, eyes and skin immediately, the wrong one will not." - Poppy Kind, Lipstick Queen

Like I have said before, I am still looking for the perfect red lipstick. I saw in ItsJudyTime videos, that she is wearing a certain red lipstick from L'Oreal and I want to buy it! Her teeth look so white in the video! It is L'Oreal Infallible Le Rouge in Refined Ruby.

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 56->52

Last night I had trouble sleeping because I was getting too excited for my Seattle trip. I was thinking about outfits I should wear and whether or not if I should vlog from the moment I wake up. I think it would be fun since most of my vlogs are of me outside my house. Would you be interested in seeing a vlog from the moment I wake up? I obviously won't be vlogging every bit of my routine but the significant parts. Our flight leaves on Friday morning around 6am so I have to be at the airport by 4am. You will definitely be seeing me at my best.....NOT! I also would like to give a birthday shout out to the hottest bachelor out there....Arie Luyendyk Jr. Who else remembers him from Emily's season of The Bachelorette? He is my fave!!! I would have so taken him into the fantasy suite. He turns 31 today!!! =D

56) Winter can be especially hard on your hair leaving it extra dry. Eugene Davis, celebrity hair stylist suggests using an Avocado Oil Hair Mask.

Even when it's not even winter, I like to put in a leave-in conditioner on my hair. I have a variety of them such as It's A 10 Miracle Leave-In Product, Avon Advance Techniques Dry Ends Serum and Moroccan Oil Treatment.

55) If you don't have nail polish remover, apply clear polish over and then wipe off. It will remove old polish.

I never tried this trick before but it does sound interesting! I do have a tendency to peel off my nail polish. I know it's a bad habit but it saves me from using too much nail polish remover. Do you do this as well or is it just me?

54) During the summer, wear chapstick or lip gloss with SPF.

Obviously it is important to wear SPF on your lips. Your lips can get sunburned too! I have a chapstick that I got for free in Downtown Toroto and it has an SPF 25. I save this for the summer months! As for lip gloss with SPF, I know ELF Cosmetics has a wide range of lip glosses/ lip balms with SPF for cheap!

53) To add volume to clean or unwashed hair, use a dry shampoo spray.

Using a dry shampoo is a great alternative to using hairspray when teasing your hair for more volume. The oils by your roots tend to leave the hair weighed down so it's great to have a dry shampoo to absorb the excess oils.

52) Change your beauty routine for Spring/Summer months. Your skin needs less coverage during the spring so you can swap the heavy products for the lighter ones.

The only thing that changes really for me is the colours. I don't wear foundation so I don't need to worry about switching coverage for my skin. I go for lighter colours in the spring/summer and darker colours for the fall/winter.

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 61->57

I can't believe in exactly one week from now, I will be on a plane to Seattle! I have planned this trip for over a month now and I cannot wait to be in Seattle!!! AHHHHH!! I will be going for 6 days and will be returning on the 25th. I have already done a lot of prep work for my trip such as getting some travel sized bottles and printing maps and itineraries. I also got a chance to watch The X-Factor Season Premiere last night. I had no idea that I would cry during the episode. It was crazy! Below I have attached the audition that made me cry for a good 5 minutes.

61) Try to avoid washing your hair everyday. Constant shampooing leaves hair dry and your scalp will create more oils to compensate for the loss of moisture.

I have been doing this for as long as I can remember. I wash my hair every other day or sometimes one extra day if my hair is curly/wavy or not oily enough for a hair wash. If my hair ever gets oily on a day where I don't wash my hair, I use a dry shampoo, curl my hair, or put it in a nice high ponytail.

60) Always use a moisturizer with SPF in the morning. Even in the winter!

The current moisturizer I am using does have SPF and I only use it in the mornings. I do have another moisturizer that I use at night that does not have an SPF.

59) "Go for a trim every 6-8 weeks to ensure you have no damaged ends making your hair look unhealthy" - Nick Arrojo, Arrojo Studio

I am terrible at this. I never do this because I don't have the finances to keep doing this. If I knew how to cut my own hair, I would so be doing this!!

58) Remember, clean brushes to fight against potential bacteria and breakouts!

I am assuming they mean make-up brushes? I clean my brushes at least once a month. It's a chore that I do not like to do but it has to be done. I have many make-up brushes so I can last a long time without washing my brushes. I wash my face brushes more often than I clean my eye brushes.

57) Clean out your makeup bag at least once a year to get rid of old products that may be expired or no longer use.

I do this at the end of winter and the beginning of fall. I am transitioning my colour selection to fit the spring/summer and fall/winter season. This is the best thing for me to do because I know I will be switching things out so I can fit new colours in and see what needs to be thrown out.

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 66->62

In a little over a week, I will be in Seattle!! I am so excited!! I made a list of things I need to get together to get ready for my trip. Tonight I am going to go out with Shawn to get some travel-sized bottles for some of my beauty products and some travel-sized shampoo and conditioner. I hear the weather is cool in Seattle right now so I need to make sure I pack some long sleeved clothing and maybe even a light coat. I really hope it doesn't rain while I am there. I will need to pack my umbrella then.

Now onto the beauty tips!!

66) "Too much bronzer is a nightmare for pale skin" - Jason Ascher, resident beauty expert for Barneys New York. Opt for an illuminating cream or light powder to get a glow.

I would say I have fair to medium skin. When I do use bronzer, I usually use it to contour my fair. I use to use it as an all over glow but then I realized it didn't work out well for my skin tone. So instead I use a beauty powder such as the ones from MAC.

65) Pick a sulfate-free shampoo, as sulfates can be harsh and drying on the hair cuticle.

Ever since I discovered buying shampoo and conditioner at Winners, I have been using sulfate-free shampoo. It makes my hair feel more hydrated and not as dull as it was before. Drugstores now offer a variety of sulfate-free shampoos so you don't need to to go to the high end salons to find one.

64) If you have greasy hair, avoid directly conditioning roots and condition from your ear down to ends.

When I am in the shower, I put my conditioner all over my hair. But once I am out of the shower, I put my my leave-in conditioner on the ends of my hair. I find that since I can rinse out the conditioner in the shower, I won't have a problem with getting greasy hair throughout the day.

63) "When you wear a red lip it's important that it stays exactly where you put it. Using a long wearing lip pencil to create the perfect shape and a lip color are key to having a perfect red lip." - Kristofer Buckle, celebrity makeup artist

I find this tip is true for any dark lip colour. With any of my dark lipstick colours, I make sure I have a lip pencil that matches it. Or I would have a nude lip liner that would go with any lip colour.

62) To make volume last all day, avoid running your fingers through hair. "Oil from your hands can weigh down your roots leaving your hair flat at the end of the day" - Tatum Neill, Arrojo Studio

I have a very bad habit of doing this. That only happens when I am having a bad hair day. That is why on bad hair days, I tend to tie up my hair and/or put a headband on. This prevents me from touching my hair throughout the day.

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 71->67

Yay!! The week is almost over!! Tonight is the MTV Video Music Awards?? Who is watching?? I know I am! I watch it every year even though I am 24. I am pretty sure I will keep watching it even when I am a grandma.

Now onto the beauty tips =D

71) The antihistamines in allergy medicine dry out the skin, so skip heavy foundation during allergy season. Instead, use a tinted moisturizer.

I never knew this! I tend to use allergy medication in the late summer and early fall. I can feel it already! My nose running and or my eyes are watering. I will make sure to apply extra moisturizer!

70) To make curls last, make sure hair is completely dry before you begin with the curling iron.

I don't know anyone who would curl their hair when their hair is still wet. I tend to curl my hair on day two hair as compared to do it the day I wash my hair. I find that my curls tend to hold better.

69) To make a zit go away faster, don't pick at it. The bacteria on your fingers will create more redness.

I have such a bad habit of popping pimples!! Even before they start to grow in its full form, I squeeze it! It is a really bad habit of mine. I need to stop!! I wonder if I use hand sanitizer before will make a difference? Probably not.

68) Use an exfoliator to get rid of dead skin but limit yourself to 2-3 times a week so you don't dry out your skin.

I don't exfoiliate my skin as often as I am suppose to. But when I do want to exfoliate my skin, I use my Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream (the rinse-off formula). It works well because it is not too rough on the skin and it has little tiny beads in it that exfoliates yours skin. The beads are quite fine so you can't see it through the cream but you can feel it on your skin.

67) Always wash your makeup before bed. "That morning-after look has never been a good one, for anyone" - Rachel Adler, beauty director Beautyhigh.com

It is very important to do this because leaving makeup on your face can lead to breakouts! I always remove my makeup before going to bed. I do sometimes take naps throughout the day and I sometimes leave my makeup on during those naps. I'm usually not wearing a lot of makeup at that point but I should not be napping with it on! Even if you are really lazy, you can always use a makeup wipe to remove your makeup! Consider leaving a pack of makeup wipes in your bedside table so you don't have to make that long trip to the washroom.

101 Beauty Tips Every Girl Should Know: Tips 76->72

I hope everyone had a relaxing long Labour Day weekend!! I for sure had a relaxing one. I went to the Burlington Ribfest and to a family birthday party. Nothing too crazy! I wanted to share with you my current nails right now that are inspired by Lady Gaga new debut perfume called FAME.

Now onto the beauty tips!!

76) Sunscreens that claim to provide "all-day protection" and "water resistance" are not reliable; don't be fooled by these claims and reapply all sunscreens at least every two to three hours.

I always reapply my body sunscreen every few hours. I mostly do this if I know I will be spending the entire day outside like if I were at the pool or the beach. As for my face, my moisturizer does have SPF in it but I do reapply face sunscreen throughout the day using my Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Powder with SPF 45. I even sometimes put this on my body if I don't want to feel greasy with sunscreen lotion.

75) When self-tanning, use a tanner with a guide color. "It will give you instant color before the effect and it will show you exactly where you put the color and where you may have missed" - Sinead Norenius, Founder of Beautisol

I personally do not self tan but I can imagine that it would be easier to have a guide colour so you can see where you have applied the tanner. No one likes a streaky tan! I have seen it on girls before....not a good look.

74) "If you're afraid of red lipstick, I love putting it on and then blotting it off to wear it as more of a stain." - Pat McGrath, makeup artist

I definitely do this during the daytime when I don't want really red lips. I sometimes even just tap the lipstick on to my lips instead of swiping it across my lips like I normally would.

73) For the summer months, you don't want to be caked down in foundation so try a tinted moisturizer instead.

I normally don't wear foundation but when I do need extra coverage I do use a tinted moisturizer. My favourite one is the Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 15. I wear this in Shade 1. They currently have this product now with SPF 20. I also find that BB creams would also be another great alternative to regular foundation. It has many more benefits than a tinted moisturizer and will combat any oiliness that you might have throughout the day.

72) Use blotting papers to manage oil and shine in your T-Zone "which are also great for cleaning up around the eyes" - Rebecca Restrepo, makeup artist

I always carry blotting papers with my in my purse. I am currently using the Nurturing Force blotting papers that I got at IMATS. I love them because you can take as little or as much as you want, depending on the amount of oil you have on your face. I have them in Aromatic Rose. The blotting papers are coloured the same way as the packaging which is really cute in my opinion!
